(Worthy News) – U.S. Vice President JD Vance delivered a stark message on Wednesday, stating that if Russia and Ukraine fail to agree on a peace deal soon, the United States will withdraw from the negotiation process altogether.

“We’ve issued a very explicit proposal to both the Russians and the Ukrainians, and it’s time for them to either say yes, or for the United States to walk away from this process,” Vance told reporters during a four-day diplomatic visit to India.

His comments reflect growing impatience within the U.S. administration over the lack of progress in resolving the nearly three-year-long conflict.

Vance’s statement coincided with a high-level meeting in London, where Ukrainian and European Union officials gathered to explore potential peace frameworks. The timing underscores the mounting pressure on both Moscow and Kyiv to reach a negotiated settlement, even as fighting continues on the front lines.

“It’s now time, I think, to take, if not the final step, one of the final steps,” Vance said. “Which is, at a broad level, the party saying we’re going to stop the killing, we’re going to freeze the territorial lines at some level close to where they are today.”

Vance acknowledged that such a deal would require painful concessions on both sides. He suggested that a compromise would likely entail “both Russia and Ukraine to give up territory they own” — a prospect certain to be contentious for both nations’ leadership and citizens.

His remarks follow a similar warning issued last week by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said that the U.S. would abandon its efforts to broker peace if meaningful progress was not achieved “within a matter of days.”

Rubio’s comments hinted at a shift in U.S. policy, signaling that Washington may be preparing to reduce its involvement in the prolonged conflict if diplomatic momentum fails to materialize.

Together, Vance and Rubio’s comments reflect a coordinated push by the Trump administration to force a resolution—or to step away if one proves impossible.
