Delegations from over 100 countries to attend Moscow security meeting

More than 125 delegations from over 100 countries across the Global South and East, along with representatives from 14 international organizations, are set to attend Russia’s annual forum on global security, the Russian Security Council said on Tuesday.

The 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues will take place in Moscow from May 27 to 29 at the ‘Russia’ National Center, chaired by Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu.

The forum will include informal talks between delegations from BRICS countries, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening international cooperation and shaping what organizers describe as a “fairer and more inclusive architecture of equal and indivisible security.”

A seminar on global security based on social sciences will be held for the first time on the sidelines of the event, organized by the Security Council’s expert advisory board.

“The process of formulating key foreign policy decisions on international security and national sovereignty must be grounded in scientifically sound concepts, approaches, scenarios, and forecasts,” the Council said in a statement.

Russia has hosted the annual meeting since 2010 as a platform for exchanging views on global security, international cooperation, and joint efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, transnational crime, drug trafficking, and emerging threats.
