Mourners gathered in the town of Korostyshiv to say goodbye to three children from the same family, killed when debris from a Russian missile hit their home.

Open coffins for eight-year-old Tamara, 12-year-old Stanislav, and 17-year-old Roman Martyniuk stood surrounded by flowers as a choir sang prayers.

The children died during a weekend strike that hit their city, located about 100km west of Kyiv.

Their father, still injured, was released from the hospital to attend the funeral. The children’s mother remains in care.

The UN says April was the deadliest month for civilians in Ukraine since September 2024, with a sharp rise in child casualties.
