Video. Four killed as Kyiv hit by new wave of Russian strikes

Updated:

A pre-dawn Russian missile and drone barrage struck Kyiv on Friday, killing at least four people and injuring 20 others, according to city officials, as air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine.

Explosions were heard throughout the capital as air defence systems attempted to intercept incoming targets. Falling debris caused fires in multiple districts, with emergency services responding to several sites.

"I heard a buzzing sound, then my dad ran to me and covered me with his hand", recalled 14-year-old Vitalina Vasylchenko, her voice still shaking. "My whole life flashed before my eyes."

In the Solomyanskyi district, a fire broke out on the 11th floor of a residential building, and three people were evacuated. Another fire was reported in a warehouse.

In the Chernihiv region, a drone exploded near an apartment block, damaging windows and doors.

Some residents took shelter in underground car parks during the strikes.
